Neighborhood Leads: Turning Facebook and Nextdoor Asks Into Booked Work
Watch any local Facebook group or a Nextdoor neighborhood feed for a week and you'll see it: "Can anyone recommend a roofer?" "Our basement smells musty — who do we call?" "Looking for someone to clean up our yard before Saturday." These asks are real demand from real neighbors, happening inside your service area, and most contractors never see them — because you can't be in thirty groups hitting refresh all day. The Neighborhood Leads add-on exists to watch them for you. It's one of the optional extras on our pricing page.
How it works
You give us your keywords — the words neighbors use when they need what you do. We monitor local Facebook groups and Nextdoor within your radius for those keywords. When someone asks for a service that matches, we provide you the most recent matching search — a warm lead handoff: a real neighbor, asking right now, that you work and close yourself. Matching leads are emailed to you daily at the email address on file, so a day's asks arrive in one digest instead of a drip of interruptions.
The keyword rules (whole words only)
Keywords match whole words, exactly as written — no asterisks, no wildcards. That precision is a feature: you get asks that actually name your trade, not every post that happens to contain a few of your letters. It also means word forms count separately. A roofing company should list roof, roofs, and roofing — that's three keywords, because neighbors phrase the same need three different ways. Think like a neighbor typing on their phone, not like a contractor writing an ad: "plumber," "leak," "burst pipe," "water heater" will outperform any single technical term.
What it costs, plainly
$10 a month for one platform — Facebook or Nextdoor — or $15 a month for both. It's optional, month to month, and billed separately: add-on fees never deduct from your lead deposit. Two honest terms: these are warm lead handoffs, not guaranteed jobs — how they convert depends on your follow-up, same as any referral. And add-on fees are non-refundable: you're paying for the searching and the handoffs, and whether neighbors ask in a given week is outside anyone's control.
How it fits the rest of your plan
Think of Neighborhood Leads as the top of your funnel and form leads as the bottom. A form lead is a homeowner who found Gold Star and requested your service — highest intent, priced per valid lead. A neighborhood ask is earlier-stage: they're asking their neighbors, not a company, which is exactly why a fast, helpful response stands out so much. Plenty of pros run both: core leads for steady booked work, neighborhood handoffs for the conversations that become next month's jobs and reviews. You choose platforms and keywords when you apply on the For Contractors page.
Questions & Answers
How much is the Neighborhood Leads add-on?
$10 per month for one platform (Facebook or Nextdoor), or $15 per month for both. It's optional and month to month, billed separately from your lead deposit — add-on asks never deduct from your deposit.
How are matching leads delivered?
By email, daily, to the email address on file. When a neighbor inside your radius asks for a service matching one of your keywords, we hand you the most recent matching search to work and close yourself.
Are neighborhood leads refundable?
No. Add-on fees are non-refundable. These are warm lead handoffs — real neighbors asking — and results depend on neighbors asking and on your follow-up, so we can't guarantee booked work from them.
How do keywords work?
Whole words only, matched exactly as written — no asterisks or wildcards. Each word form counts as its own keyword: roof, roofs, and roofing are three keywords. List the ways neighbors actually phrase the ask.
Is this different from a regular Gold Star lead?
Yes. A regular lead is a homeowner who filled out our form requesting your service, placed in contact with you, and billed per lead when valid. A neighborhood lead is an ask we spotted in a Facebook group or on Nextdoor and handed to you — earlier-stage, and covered by the monthly add-on instead of per-lead pricing.
